Hungary Opposes EC Proposal on More Frequent Roadworthiness Tests for Older Vehicles
Hungary does not support a European Commission proposal to require roadworthiness tests every year for passenger cars and light commercial vehicles that are older than ten years, the Construction and Transportation Ministry said.

European Union transportation ministers discussed the proposal for the first time on June 5, the ministry noted.

Balint Nagy, the state secretary for transportation, said the measure would place a disproportionate financial and administrative burden on vehicle owners.

A number of other EU member states have raised concerns over the more frequent roadworthiness tests.
