Retail Sales Up in Hungary
Retail sales in Hungary rose 4.0pc year-on-year in December, data released by the Central Statistics Office (KSH) show.

Retail sales rose 3.5pc when adjusted for calendar year effects.

Adjusted food sales increased 2.1pc, non-food sales climbed 4.3pc and vehicle fuel sales rose 1.7pc.

Online and mail-order sales volume, which accounted for 9.3pc of retail turnover, rose 2.8pc.

In a month-on-month comparison, retail sales inched up 0.2pc, adjusted for seasonal and calendar year effects.

In absolute terms, retail sales came to HUF 1,975bn in December. Food sales accounted for 49pc of the total, non-food sales for 39pc and sales at petrol stations for 12pc.

For the full year, retail sales rose an unadjusted 2.7pc and an adjusted 2.9pc. Food sales increased an adjusted 2.5pc, non-food sales rose 4.4pc and motor fuel sales inched up 0.8pc.
