Born 1950 in Boston. Grew up in Atlanta, Georgia and in Bethesda, Maryland near Washington. Began traveling the world at 17 years old when my insane parents let me drive with just some buddies from Washington to Montreal.

Jonathan Spinks moved to Budapest in 1999 and started working at BISB as a Class teacher before coming Head of Music. In 2015 he moved to Bali, Indonesia to take up the same role at an International Bilingual School.

1. What’s been happening at work and at home since your first Xpat Interview?
I left my museum-mania life in Budapest, retired and moved to beautiful Kapolcs Village in the Arts Valley in Northern Balaton. Was initially busy renovating and restoring an old ruin on a vineyard estate. Sometimes questioning my sanity, wearing wellies and knee deep in compost!

Timur finished his BA in business economics and management at Oxford Brookes University. During his studies he started an e-commerce shop which was focusing on imported goods. After his graduation Timur cofounded Nimbusmarket.com an international P2P delivery system.

I have been leading teams and schools for the last 10 years and started my teaching career at the hugely successful Alleyn’s School in London, part of the Dulwich Foundation.

Throughout the 10 month working at The Fat Duck (Heston Blumenthal) I have been able to gain respect of the team and became a valued member. After going through a long and extensive training, I have been empowered to run my own station and train the new entries by instilling the standards and by leading example.
