The government has instructed all ministries and their institutions to cancel their contracts with Magyar Telekom, the local unit of Deutsche Telekom, government spokesman Zoltán Kovács said. He said the move would affect mobile internet subscriptions, but would not impact the partnership agreement between Telekom and the government.

More than 9,000 billion forints (EUR 28.4bn) of European Union funding has been paid out in Hungary, government office chief János Lázár said about the 2007-2013 EU budget period. Tenders have already been invited for the 2014-2020 EU budget period amounting to 3 billion forints, he told a weekly government press briefing.

Next year will be dedicated to tax simplification and cuts, with the personal income tax dropping from the current 16% to 15%, the economy ministry said. The cut will result in an extra 30,000 forints (EUR 96) left in people’s pockets in 2016. Family tax allowances for families with at least two children will be increased by 25%, leaving an additional 60,000 forints extra with such families.
