Budapest Police carried out an investigation of the Hableány in twenty-six hours, two days. The sightseeing boat, which capsized on 29 May in an accident on the Danube, was raised on 11 June and then transferred to a Csepel port that afternoon for examination, reports a Police spokesperson.
Sausage Festival In Budapest, 13 - 15 October

This annual festival featuring 250 types of spiced up meat will be held at the Hungarian Railway Museum this year. As well as lots of porky specials available along several 'Sausage Streets', there will be family programs, folklore shows, 'nostalgic music programs' and dance, plus apparently presentations of enormous sausages, during this three day special Hungarian gastro event.
Hungarian Rock Veteran Tamás Somló Dies

Musician Tamás Somló, a long-time member of rock group Locomotiv GT, has died at age 68, his bandmate Gábor Presser announced on behalf of the family and the group. Somló had been fighting cancer for several years.
Popular Hungarian Bandleader Benkó Dies

Clarinet player Sándor Benkó, founder of the popular Benkó Dixieland Band, died on Tuesday at the age of 75, his family announced. Benkó started the group while a high school student in 1957. Its first album was certified a gold disc. The band toured the world, took part in many music festivals and received numerous awards. The band has no fewer than 1,800 professional recordings.
