Lawyer Peter Daniel poured red paint on a wooden statue of inter-war regent Miklos Horthy in Kereki, Somogy county last Tuesday night. Daniel then hung a board with the caption “mass murderer, war criminal” in Hungarian around the statue’s neck. The statue, unveiled on Sunday has now been removed from its plinth and taken away.

Janos Ader was born in Csorna, Gyor county on May 9, 1959. He completed Revai Miklos Grammar School in Gyor in 1977, and obtained a law degree at ELTE faculty of law in 1983. For a year he worked as a law clerk on a city council and from 1986 to 1990 he worked at the Sociology Research Institute of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences.
