The New Year’s Concert is a highly successful tradition of several years standing at the Palace of Arts. In 2013, we had the opportunity to hear Haydn‘s oratorio The Seasons with Helmuth Rilling, while on the first day of 2014 the work will be presented by another world-renowned conductor in the shape of René Jacobs.

Anton Bruckner’s (unfinished) Symphony No. 9 as well as the anthem of faith and hope, the Te Deum will be performed on 4th December. The Austrian composer could not even complete his swansong, and had written just three out of four movements before his death in 1896.

This international group rehearses weekly (Sunday evenings, from 5 to 8 pm) in Budapest’s 5th district, and gives concerts in some of Budapest’s finest churches. The choir’s Musical Director is Richárd Sólyom

It has been 55 years since the first concert was given in the grounds of Martonvásár Manor House, the former residence of the Brunszvik family, under age-old lime trees only 32 km from Budapest. Besides the National Philharmonic these concerts feature excellent artists from Hungary and abroad.
