The Albanian Embassy and Hungarian dignitaries unveiled a statue of Mother Teresa in Budapest on Friday to mark Day of International Charity. “Mother Teresa lived an exemplary life, she faced up the horror of poverty and hopelessness and was dedicated to serving the needy,” Zoltán Pokorni, the mayor of District 12 where the statue was erected, told the ceremony.

Index reported that about 100 police officers closed off Szabadság tér as the statues of an eagle and the Archangel Gabriel were erected.

Closed during the Communist period, it has since been reopened and offers a peaceful respite from the noise of the city. This cave was originally home to Saint Istvan, a hermit monk who cured the sick with thermal waters that sprung in front of the cave.
