Held at a great new Budapest taproom, around the time of the traditional Oktoberfest beer celebrations, a Master Brewer guided XpatLoop readers through a tasting journey featuring 11 quality craft brews. Plus there was live music, and freshly baked pizza too.

I didn’t have to think twice when asked by Team XpatLoop to attend a beer-tasting afternoon at the British Ambassador’s residence. I was there quicker than you could say 'I’ll have a glass of craft beer please.' There was plenty to try out as a taster of the many beers available between 20-27 May at the official BPBW event.

As the sun sizzled, corks popped and the festival of bubbles took off on this Grand Prix of weekends. Building on the success of last year’s event still sparkling in people’s minds, the open-air festival of bubbles was here again, for four sun-soaked days.

The Budapest Soup Festival (Budai Levesfesztivál) was organized for the first time. Held in the Elvis Pressley Park, with a mixture of Hungarian and International soups, where you could find the usual suspects (fish, meat, gulyas, vegetable, bean, fruit, liver dumpling and onion-in-bread soup), as well as, the not so usual ones.
