The personal income tax rate is to fall from 16 percent to 15 percent in 2015 and thus the Government leaves HUF 120 more at families, at more than 4 million taxpayers, Deputy State Secretary for Taxation and Zoltán Pankucsi said at a press conference in Budapest.

We should have seen this coming. When the critical media portals MKKP, Atlatszo and Vastagbor collected 33,3 million Forints, that is 80 000 Euros, in two weeks to stage a counter campaign for the government's racist one, it was clearly visible that Hungarians are willing to help migrants and would not be that easily manipulated.

The Irish newspaper The Irish Times has published a list of Budapest’s five best restaurants by the country’s top travel author. Reporting on the open-air Gourmet Festival held in Budapest’s Millenáris Park on the website of one of Ireland’s oldest and most-read newspapers, Fionn Davenport says that you can “eat well in the Hungarian capital no matter what time of year you visit”.

A record number of Hungarians expressed xenophobia or adverse attitudes towards foreigners according to the latest results of pollster Tárki’s annual survey. Fully 46% of respondents agreed with the statement that no asylum-seeker should be allowed to enter Hungary at all, the survey, taken since 1992, said.
