Two Korean opera singers open the 1st Korea-Hungary Classical Music Festival with famous opera arias and Korean songs. Yunah Lee, performing frequently at the US opera houses, is broadening her stage to Europe. She is thrilling the audience with “handsomely colored full lyric sound”. One full month filled with 10 symphonic concerts await the music lover audience at the 25th jubilee Summer Music Festival at Vajdahunyad Castle. The main – and last – act of this exlusive concert series will be presented by the Budapest Gypsy Symphony Orchestra and Hundred Gypsy Violins, on the evening of 4th August.

The Vera and Donald Blinken Open Society Archives invited young composers to enter the music competition based on the exhibition, Some Kind of Opposition… by Axel Braun. The selected scores will be performed in the framework of the concert entitled, Some Music, Something Else. The concert will be the closing event of the exhibition.

After two successful tragédies en musique, Jean-Philippe Rameau, the reformer of French grand opera, introduced an opéra-ballet entitled Les Indes galantes (The Amorous Indies). His interest had been piqued by the chief of an American Indian tribe and his five companions, who had presented their own dances at the Théâtre-Italien in Paris.
