I first visited Budapest in 1982. I came with some friends on the overnight train from Warsaw, where I was working at the British Embassy. Howling dogs and misty border crossings - it was like living in a John le Carré novel. Budapest was shrouded in freezing fog all weekend but I still fell in love with the city.

Since 2005, I have been the Company Chairman of City Taxi, one of the most well known and popular taxi companies in Budapest. City Taxi operates as a cooperative with more than 400 taxi owners, in addition to which we work with more than 400 subcontract taxi drivers.

László Szőke finished his studies in 1978 at the Budapest University of Technology and Economics. A graduate of in Hydraulic Engineering he started working as a building manager at Vízügyi Építő Vállalat. From 1983 to 1984 he worked in Algeria as a project manager, building an educational centre.
