Two Hungarian Gripen fighter planes were alerted on Thursday because of a Boeing 767 Canadian airliner, the Defence Ministry told state news agency MTI. The aircraft entered Slovak air space without contacting Slovak air control. The pilots still did not get in touch with Slovak air control after Slovak fighter planes intercepted the plane.

The iconic confectionary Jégbüfé, operating since the 1950s on Ferenciek tere in downtown Budapest, will soon reopen in nearby Petõfi utca, Magyar Idõk has learnt. The shop will be somewhat smaller and will have a café and a VIP section. The walls will be decorated with pictures taken by French photographer Bruno Borel in the Jégbüfé since 1989.

The second largest cities in Hungary, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Poland signed a letter of intent on Friday to co-operate in tourism matters. Debrecen, Brno, Kosice and Krakow will present each other at their tourism fairs and will harmonise their tourism marketing, while their universities will engage in joint research in tourism development. They will apply together for EU subsidies.
