Ferenc Gyurcsány, the former prime minister of Hungary and chairman of the Democratic Coalition (DK), released a 20-page political pamphlet titled "Many for Hungary" (Sokak Magyarországért). "Many people hope that Orbán and his system would collapse under the weight of its own corruption, or be swept away by an international financial or political crisis.
Hungary's Balaton Swim Set For 4 July

The annual swim across Lake Balaton between Révfülöp and Balatonboglár will be staged on Saturday, for the 33rd time. Organisers said that they expect thousands again to cover the 5.2km distance. Good weather is forecast, but organisers will make a final decision at noon on Thursday.

Here we are before the Budapest municipal elections where the stakes are high since with good candidates and a good campaign the democratic parties have a chance of replacing István Tarlós and perhaps even receiving the majority of the district mayoralties.

The campaign for Hungary’s local elections started officially on Saturday. Hungarian President János Áder has set October 12 as the date of the local elections, when Hungary’s national and ethnic minorities will also elect local representatives. The official campaign for the local elections starts on the 50th day prior to the date of the election under the election procedures law.
