Updated: Budapest's Sziget Festival in Serious Trouble
Budapest Mayor Gergely Karácsony wrote in a Facebook post this week that the future of Sziget has become uncertain, as the festival's CEO informed him that he was forced to initiate the termination of the agreement between the capital and the long running 'Island of Freedom' festival.

New Zenit Corso Shopping Complex in Budapest Features Hungary’s Largest Aldi Store
Budapest has welcomed Hungary’s largest Aldi, spanning 11,000 square meters, as part of the new Zenit Corso shopping and office complex in Zugló. The store features a distinctive open-top central space, geothermal heating, and is surrounded by additional shops and cafés. The complex was developed by Bayer Construct Zrt.

DiCaprio to Produce Biopic on Hungarian Hollywood Icon Béla Lugosi
Leonardo DiCaprio’s production company, Appian Way, is developing a large-scale biopic about Béla Lugosi, the Hungarian actor who became a global icon with his 1931 portrayal of Dracula. Produced by Universal Pictures, the film will focus on Lugosi’s early years, tracing his journey from Hungary to Hollywood rather than his later life.

Rival Budapest Marches to Mark '56 Revolution Anniversary
This year’s anniversary of the 1956 Hungarian Revolution will be marked by two rival marches on October 23, reflecting political divisions in the country. The governing Fidesz party and the opposition Tisza Party are each organizing separate processions.
