With the hot weather finally here, I have been making the rounds of the new beer gardens. I tried Otkert (Zrinyi u. 4, 5th district) a few weeks ago at about 5pm. The place is done up nice, and conveniently located without being overpriced for its location. This year’s celebration of Canada’s 143rd birthday joined by the 101st anniversary of the Canadian Department of Foreign Affairs as well as the 46th anniversary of Canada-Hungary diplomatic relations was held in the atmospheric garden of the Canadian ambassador, Mr. Pierre Guimond on 30 June.

Bonfire Night in Budapest went with a real bang on 5 November 2009. British Ambassador to Hungary Mr. Greg Dorey (pictured), guest of honour at this XpatLoop.com event, started proceedings with an informative and entertaining speech about this UK tradition, aka Guy Fawkes Night, to a packed house at the local InterContinental Hotel.

I grew up in a small town in Cumbria and knew I was destined for city life. Coming from a family of doctors and nurses I followed suit and moved to London to study a degree in Paediatric nursing. I stayed in London for 8 years and worked in all of the big children's hospitals.
