The government is planning to take several measures to help the poor and homeless in the winter time, government spokeswoman Éva Kurucz told a press conference on Monday. Speaking at northern Hungary’s Sóshartyán, Kurucz said that the government would spend some 9 billion forints (EUR 29.4m) on services for the homeless, and would provide free firewood for poor families.

The government has approved a 29 billion forint draft (EUR 93m) programme to help the needy which has been forwarded to the European Commission, daily Magyar Hírlap said. Fully 85% of the programme is planned to be funded by the European Union.

He also studied in the United States. In addition to his church activities he worked for Duna TV. Since 2010 he has been the vice chairman of the Lutheran World Federation.
