Jobbik has overtaken the Socialist Party in popularity among potential voters, according to the latest Medián poll. If elections were held this coming Sunday, 17% of decided party voters would opt for Jobbik, as against 14% for the Socialists. Fidesz would have 56% support, LMP and Together 4% each, and the Democratic Coalition 2%.

Director Tibor Závecz of Ipsos pollsters said Jobbik is favoured by 16-19% of decided party voters, as its support has grown mainly among middle-class people aged 20-30, primarily working in the provinces.

The radical nationalist Jobbik party gained support in February while ruling party Fidesz’s backing eased a touch, according to the latest poll published by Medián. Fidesz still leads at 36% as against 23% support for Unity, 14% for Jobbik and 3% for LMP within Medián’s whole sample. Among decided voters, Fidesz leads 49 to 30% against Unity. Jobbik had 18% and LMP 3%.
