Frank Peterson, upon visiting the Escorial Royal Monastery, was walking in the medieval corridors listening to rock music on his Walkman. The monks religious chanting combined with the music on his earphones and inspired him to create a unique experiment: to mix the Gregorian chants with rock melodies.

Xploring Hungary: Khuen-Hedervary Mansion Gardens, Hédervár

These 17-acre mansion gardens originally landscaped in the French style were later converted into an English-style park. Indigenous tree species share the land with exotics such as yew trees, various pines and the American tulip tree.

"The now ruined Romanesque-style basilica and abbey was erected in the 11th century and later rebuilt in Gothic style. A cemetery chapel and a cemetery have been excavated, as well as a medieval stonewall embracing the whole building complex.

"Esztergom is the birth and coronation place of the first Hungarian king, St Stephen; the city celebrated the 1000th year of its establishment in 1973. Its famous churches, its monuments and the natural beauty of the surrounding countryside make it an extremely popular tourist destination. The Maria Valeria bridge is a border crossing to Slovakia.
